Why Cloth Menstrual Pads Are Designed for Your Flow – Not Your Age or Body Type
When it comes to menstrual products, there’s a lot of misinformation about what people need based on their age or body size. You’ve probably seen products marketed as “teen size pads” or pads made specifically for “plus-size bodies.” But here’s the truth: your flow doesn’t care about your age, body type, or size.
At Caring For, I’ve designed my cloth menstrual pads to work for flow type, not body type or age. Let’s break down why that matters.
Everyone’s Flow Is Unique
EX: Jenny has a light flow. She only bleeds for about four days and uses light absorbency disposable pads. On the other hand, Meg bleeds for 7 to 10 days and can go through 2 to 3 super heavy disposable pads per hour. That’s a massive difference, but it’s not uncommon.
Now, consider this: An 11-year-old just starting her period may have a very heavy flow right from the beginning. She might need a 16-inch Heavy+/Postpartum pad in the Wide shape for proper coverage and absorbency. Meanwhile, a 32-year-old woman who is considered “plus-size” may only need a 10-inch Moderate pad in the Original shape to comfortably get through her period.
Your flow is determined by your body’s needs, not your age or size.
Designed for All Flow Types and Bladder Leaks
Whether your flow is light, heavy, or anything in between, my cloth pads are made to provide reliable protection and comfort. They are available in:
• 8” Light: Perfect for lighter days, spotting and daily discharge.
• 10” Moderate: Great for regular flow days.
• 12” & 14” Heavy: Reliable for heavy flow, overnight use, and light to moderate bladder leaks.
• 16” Heavy+/Postpartum: Ideal for super heavy flow, postpartum bleeding, and light to moderate bladder leaks.
• 18” Heavy+/Postpartum (Custom Order): Designed for extreme protection when you need it most.
And yes, my pads can also be used for light to moderate bladder leaks, like those caused by sneezing, laughing, jumping, or sudden movements. I recommend anything 12” Heavy and above for this purpose. However, it’s important to note that my pads are not tested for and are not intended for partial or full bladder emptying.
Gusset Options to Fit Your Needs
Just like flow can vary, so can preference for fit. That’s why I offer two gusset widths:
• Original (3” gusset/snapped width): A standard width that works for most.
• Wide (4” gusset/snapped width): Provides more coverage for those who need it.
And if you need a thinner gusset, I can add a second snap to make it happen. Customization should be about comfort and effectiveness, not about fitting into someone else’s idea of what a pad should be.
Why I Discontinued the Flare Shape
I believe in constantly improving my designs to better serve my customers. The Flare shape didn’t resonate with most people, so I discontinued it. Instead, I focus on providing the shapes and sizes that truly meet your needs.
The Bottom Line: It’s About Flow Type, Not Body Type
My cloth pads are made for everyone, regardless of age, body type, or size. Whether you need a slim pad for a light flow, a super-absorbent pad for postpartum recovery, or protection against light bladder leaks, there’s an option for you at Caring For.
It’s time to ditch the labels and focus on what really matters: finding the right product for your unique needs.
