Emergency Teething Oil (Same-Day, Use-What-You-Have Version)

Sometimes teething hits hard –
and you don’t have time to order, drive, or wait.

This is a quick, same-day teething oil made with just oil and cloves using what most homes already have. No long infusions, no fancy tools.

This is short-term support, not a long-term daily remedy.

What This Is For

  • Sudden teething discomfort
  • Middle-of-the-night teething pain
  • When you can’t leave the house
  • When you need something gentle right now

Ingredients (Choose What You Have)

Oil (choose one):

  • Coconut oil
  • Olive oil

Cloves (choose one):

  • Whole cloves
  • Ground cloves

You only need a small amount.

Basic Ratio (Flexible)

  • 2–3 tablespoons oil
  • 3–5 whole cloves or ¼ teaspoon ground cloves

This is intentionally gentle.

Quick Double Boiler Method (10–15 Minutes)

1. Set up a double boiler

    • Small heat-safe jar or bowl set in a pan of simmering water
    • Do not let water splash into the oil

2. Add oil and cloves

    • Keep heat low
    • Gently warm, not fry

3. Infuse for 10–15 minutes

    • Stir occasionally
    • Oil should smell lightly clove-scented, not sharp

4. Test strength

    • Dip a clean finger in cooled oil
    • Rub on your inner wrist or gums
    • If it feels too strong, dilute with more oil
    • If very mild, you may infuse a few minutes longer

5. Strain (if using whole cloves)

    • Optional but recommended

Allow oil to cool completely before use.

How to Use

  • Rub a tiny amount onto clean finger
  • Gently massage onto baby’s gums
  • Use sparingly, as needed

A little goes a long way.

Important Notes

  • This is for short-term, occasional use only
  • Do not use in large amounts
  • Do not use continuously or long-term
  • Clove oil can cause tummy upset if swallowed in larger amounts
  • Always test first and discontinue if irritation occurs

Storage

  • Store in a small glass jar
  • Refrigerate if using coconut oil in warm climates
  • Use within 3–5 days
